  • Jake Eastwood

    CAPTAIN

    Jake has been captain of American Promise for two seasons now.  He is dedicated to keeping the vessel in ship shape and ensuring the crew's safety. Jake brings years of experience in boat maintenance, captaining, and crewing on a wide variety of sailing vessels. He’s excited for another season of cleaning up and sailing Maine’s beautiful coastline.

  • Paloma Aguair

    FIRST MATE

    Paloma is a native of Sonora, Mexico who has always had a passion for the sea. Paloma brings both sailing experience and a love of creating wonderful culinary delights for the crew on board. She is eager to join Rozalia Project’s mission of cleaning and protecting the ocean.

  • Amy Green

    EXPEDITION LEADER

    Amy has served as expeidiotn leader for two consecutive seasons. With a background in marine debris, ocean science, and sailing, Amy is excited to get back out in the field to clean up, educate, and explore the coast of Maine.

  • Brooke Winslow

    ENVIRONMENTAL RESEARCHER/CORA BALL CO-INVENTOR

    Brooke has been part of the Rozalia Project team for over ten years, first as an intern, next as First Mate of American Promise, then as co-inventor of the Cora Ball and now as a field researcher and data analyst for the CSI for the Ocean mapping and monitoring program.

  • Ashley Sullivan

    EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

    Originally from Miami, Florida, Ashley served for 10 years in various capacities at Shake- A-Leg Miami, a nonprofit community watersports and education center before moving to Burlington, Vermont in 2009. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy, a minor in Women’s Studies and has a USCG Merchant Mariner 50 ton license. Ashley’s experience, knowledge, integrity and general awesomeness are a great match for the work of staff, volunteers and friends of Rozalia Project.

  • Annie Tuthill

    COMMUNICATIONS MANAGER

    Annie is a Rozalia Project alum, first interning with us in 2016 as an onboard reporter. Since then, she continued to volunteer each summer, jumping aboard whenever should could. With a background in photography, videography and design, she is the media maven for all of our communications.

Our Founders

  • Rachael Miller

    COFOUNDER

    Rachael Zoe Miller is the Founder of Rozalia Project for a Clean Ocean and it is for her grandmother that the project is named. She is an expedition scientist, inventor, National Geographic Explorer, Explorers Club Fellow and co-inventor of the Cora Ball, the world’s first microfiber-catching laundry ball. Rachael leads teams on expeditions whose scientific results are published in peer-reviewed journals and education programs that inspire thousands of people of all ages. She’s presented at venues worldwide including on the TedX stage and at The Explorer’s Club. Rachael captains the 60’ sailing research vessel, American Promise, certified hundreds of people to be sailing instructors, trained Navy SEALS to find unexploded mines using underwater robots, pitched to audiences at Our Ocean and Plastics Europe and mentors young scientists at the New York Harbor School. She lives in Vermont, loves the snow as much as the sea and does her best thinking on skis, bikes or paddleboards.

  • James Lyne

    COFOUNDER

    James is a co-founder of Rozalia Project. He lives Granville, VT.
